Documenting art and culture since 1999

Farivar Hamzeyi is a video producer, editor, director of photography and art researcher whose work spans documentary film, television and visual storytelling. With more than 25 years of experience, he works across the full production process, from research and concept development to filming, editing and delivery.

He began interviewing and documenting artists in 1999. Since then, he has conducted around 300 interviews, building a body of work centered on artists, musicians and cultural figures. These conversations explore creative practice, personal experience and the cultural context in which art is made.

His professional experience includes work with Voice of America, Manoto TV and Iran International.

Palette and Clay — A series profiling Iranian visual artists, developed between 1999 and 2024.

The archive

Alongside his documentary recordings of artists, Hamzeyi and his team have created and preserved an archive of more than 30,000 images of artworks. Built over the years through professional photography and the scanning of negatives, photographic slides and original artworks, this collection has been maintained to the present day.

Practice and background

His background in graphic design informs his approach to composition and visual narrative. His practice brings together interview-based storytelling, cinematography, lighting, multi-camera production and post-production for broadcast and digital media. He works in Persian, English and Turkish.
